Shelly Kurth, LMSW

Shelly Kurth is a Licensed Master Social worker. She has over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She received her undergraduate degree from Wichita State University in 1995 in Psychology with a minor in Minority & Women’s Studies. She received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Newman University in 2009.
Shelly has a breath of experience working within the foster care system, traumatized children and youth, juvenile offenders, parents of youth, severe emotionally disturbed youth (SED), severe and persistent mentally ill adults (SMPI), medical social work, chronic medical issues and diagnoses, and has worked with older adults.
Shelly has a special interest in working with adults 18+ experiencing:
depression
anxiety
grief/prolonged grief
chronic pain
chronic medical issues
caregiver burnout or special topics related to caregiving
Aging
Dementia and Alzheimer’s
SPMI
Individuals and systemic racism issues
post-weight loss surgery
Shelly pulls from several theories and modalities related to empowerment, strengths-based therapies with a focus on motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Shelly aims to meet the client where they are and form a working alliance to achieve their goals.
Shelly is currently under the supervision of Nicole Fenoglio, LSCSW, LCAC.
