Shawntel is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-T) with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School.
As a relational therapist, she believes that the connection between therapist and client is one of the most important elements of meaningful therapy. For this reason, she prioritizes creating a safe, trauma-informed space for everyone who enters her office.
Shawntel works with clients to cultivate healthy relationships with the most vulnerable parts of themselves by emphasizing self-compassion and exploring how painful past experiences continue to affect them in the present. She operates from the belief that all “symptoms” are adaptations the brain and body have used to protect against pain and suffering. In her work, she honors those survival skills while helping clients develop more functional and sustainable ways of coping.
She is an LGBTQIA+ ally and is committed to approaching her work through an anti-racist and anti-colonial lens.
Shawntel provides therapy for individuals and couples ages 16 and older. She specializes in supporting clients navigating spiritual or religious trauma, religious deconstruction, young adult transitions, and patterns of people-pleasing, boundary struggles, and anxiety. Her therapeutic style is embodied and integrative, drawing from Relationally-Focused Psychodynamic Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Feminist Therapy.
Shawntel is under the clinical supervision of Jeanine Jantz, LCPC.
